Privacy Policy

Last Updated: 3 June 2026

Consolidate is a non-partisan platform that consolidates publicly available records of UK political finance. This policy explains what personal data we process, why, the lawful bases we rely on under the UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), and your rights. It complements our Terms of Service.

1. Who we are

Consolidate is the data controller for the personal data described below. You can contact us at will@consolidate.org.uk.

2. Data about visitors and account holders

  • Account data — if you register, your email address and any display name you choose. Lawful basis: performance of a contract / our legitimate interest in providing the service you requested.
  • Preferences — if you follow members or subscribe to digests, the items you follow and your notification settings, so we can send what you asked for.
  • Email subscriptions — if you opt in to a newsletter or alerts, your email address, confirmation status and preferences. Lawful basis: your consent (PECR). You can withdraw consent at any time via the one-click unsubscribe link in every email.
  • Messages — anything you send via our contact or feedback forms. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in responding to you.
  • Usage analytics — aggregate, privacy-friendly analytics (via Vercel Analytics) about how pages are used. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in improving the platform.

3. Information about named individuals and organisations

Consolidate reproduces and organises information already published in official public records — including the Registers of Members' Financial Interests, Electoral Commission donation records, UK government contract notices and Companies House. Where this includes personal data about Members of Parliament, donors, company officers and similar persons, we process it on the basis of our legitimate interests (and the substantial public interest in transparency and accountability of those holding or seeking public office). We present this information factually, as a matter of public record, and link to the primary source wherever possible. We do not allege wrongdoing, and the presence of an entry does not imply any impropriety.

4. How we use email

We only send marketing or newsletter email where you have given consent through a confirmed (double opt-in) subscription. Transactional email (such as account confirmation) is sent where necessary to operate features you use. Every newsletter and alert includes a one-click unsubscribe link and standard list-unsubscribe headers, and we keep a suppression list so that an unsubscribed or bounced address is not contacted again.

5. Who we share data with

We use a small number of processors to run the platform: our hosting and database provider (Supabase), our application host and analytics (Vercel), and our email provider (Resend). They process data only on our instructions. We do not sell personal data.

6. Retention

We keep account and subscription data for as long as your account or subscription is active, and delete or anonymise it on request or within a reasonable period after it is no longer needed. Public-record information is retained for as long as it remains relevant to the transparency purpose, reflecting the underlying public sources.

7. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to our processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, contact will@consolidate.org.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

8. Corrections to public-record information

If you believe information shown about you or your organisation is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date, please contact us at will@consolidate.org.uk with the relevant page and the correction. We will review it promptly, correct genuine errors, and — where the original public source is the issue — point you to the source so it can be amended there.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time; material changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date above.

This policy is provided for transparency and is not legal advice.
